Then he goes back into his past recalling back in camp when he learned to make the infamous lanyard. With this lanyard he gives it his mother as a gift. Toward the fourth stanza the tone starts to chance into a somewhat humorous mood.

He shows you the juxtaposition between his mother love and the gift he gave to her.
