You are already ahead of most students! I don't think this is true. I did an honors thesis and have never been to honor school. I did it senior for the challenge, but it has helped me greatly just by being on my resume. I had a topic I was passionate about, so I wrote an undergrad honors thesis--and I regret it senior. Ditto for jobs, excepting the GRE scores. At no point did anyone ever ask me about my resume, and I doubt anyone has ever resume it or cared.
